Sheriff’s Office: Autopsy shows no foul play after woman found dead in Ridgeway home

RIDGEWAY – An autopsy was performed on the woman who was found dead in her Ridgeway home on Wednesday.


The Henry County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that preliminary results showed no obvious signs of foul play or a homicide.


The complete autopsy report is pending toxicology and additional testing.


The cause and manner of death remain unknown at this time, according to the sheriff's office.


WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE

RIDGEWAY – Authorities have identified the 57-year-old woman who was found dead in her Ridgeway home on Wednesday.


At approximately 5:03 AM, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to Staples Avenue in Ridgeway for a well-being check. 


Deputies say they located Catherine Evans McDaniel deceased inside of the residence. 


A local medical examiner responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.


The cause and manner of death are unknown at this time and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia, the sheriff's office said.

RIDGEWAY – The sheriff’s office is investigating after a woman’s body was found at her Ridgeway home on Wednesday.


The Henry Sheriff’s Office says there’s no signs of a violent crime.


The body will be sent to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke and an autopsy will be performed.


The incident remains under investigation.
