FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – A 59-year-old woman is behind bars following a homicide in Franklin County.
Monday at about 11:20 a.m., the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was called for a well-being check at the home of Walter Sigmon and Carol Long.
A deputy responded to the 11000 block of Franklin Street in Ferrum and located Carol Long inside the house.
According to the sheriff's office, she told the deputy that 62-year-old Walter Sigmon was dead inside the house.
Through the investigation, Long was arrested and was charged with second-degree murder.
She is being held without bond.
Authorities say this was an isolated incident with no threat to the community.
