67-year-old man killed in Wednesday crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – An elderly man died in a two-vehicle crash in Franklin County on Wednesday.


The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Old Franklin Turnpike near Novelty Road.

A 1995 Honda Accord was going east on Old Franklin Turnpike when the vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a 2000 Ford Explorer head-on, according to the Virginia State Police.

State police said the driver of the Honda, Andrew Robertson, 67, of Pittsville, was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

Lorenza Terry, 67, of Penhook, was the driver of the Ford and was wearing his seatbelt.


Terry was transported by helicopter to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash, police said.

The incident is still under investigation.
