HENRY COUNTY, VA – An 89-year-old woman was airlifted to the hospital after she was hit by a car on Thursday.
It happened on Blackberry Road near Mockingbird Lane in the Blackberry community of Henry County shortly after 12 p.m.
According to Virginia State Police Senior Trooper Joseph Hylton, the woman was stuck by a white Toyota sedan which was going east on Blackberry Road.
“There was an elderly female that had walked across the street to check her mailbox and she walked out into the roadway and was struck,” Trooper Hylton told BTW21 News at the scene.
The woman was flown to Roanoke for her injuries, according to the trooper.
The Toyota was driven by an elderly man who was not injured in the incident.
“There are no charges to be filed,” Hylton said.
