An Amtrak passenger train was delayed earlier today after an intoxicated passenger caused a disturbance near US 29 Business and Narrow Gauge Road in Reidsville, NC.
At approximately 8 a.m., Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene where the train had stopped due to the disruptive behavior of a passenger.
Upon arrival, deputies boarded the train and encountered Akeem O. Wilson, a 41-year-old from Irvington, NJ. Wilson, who was extremely intoxicated, had removed all of his clothing except for his undershirt and underwear.
He refused to comply with train officials' requests to put his clothes back on, gather his belongings, and leave the train.
As a result, Wilson was placed under arrest by Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies and escorted off the train.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the train resumed its journey shortly after Wilson was removed.
Akeem O. Wilson is currently being held in the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a $5,000 secured bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 20, 2025, to face charges related to the incident.
The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the disturbance, but no further details have been provided at this time.
