One of the VCCS Hire Education Conference highlights is the annual Awards Ceremony, which honors individuals and organizations that go the extra mile to promote student success and equitable access in our workforce and career training programs.
This year, the event featured a standing ovation for Andrew Mullins, the winner of the Outstanding Student Success Story award.
Having overcome addiction and incarceration, Mullins completed the Heavy Equipment Operator class at Patrick & Henry Community College last summer.
He has openly shared his journey to inspire others and demonstrate that change is possible.
His nomination highlighted his “determination, drive, and success in securing employment,” showcasing education's profound impact on transforming lives and creating new opportunities.
