BASSETT, VA – A fire broke out at a Henry County home on Tuesday afternoon.
At 4 p.m., Bassett firefighters were dispatched to the 3000 block of Bassett Heights Road Extension for the blaze.
Bassett Fire Chief Junior Lynch told BTW21 News the adult and the four children that lived in the home made it out safely.
The home was a total loss and the family was assisted by the American Red Cross, according to the Fire Chief.
Lynch said the homeowner did not have insurance and an investigation into the cause was not requested.
“This one they didn’t request it, so there will not be an investigation,” Lynch explained. “It will just be marked as undetermined, probably with the area of origin being in the bedroom, where they said they saw smoke first.”
The Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department, Henry County Public Safety, VDOT and Henry County PSA assisted.
