Burn ban implemented in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA – The City of Martinsville is implementing a burn ban due to dry conditions and the limited likelihood of significant rainfall in the near future.

Fire Chief Dan Howell has declared an immediate ban on all outdoor burning activities. The city is joining Henry, Franklin and Patrick counties and several other jurisdictions within the region in implementing the ban.

The ban strictly prohibits all outdoor burning, encompassing but not limited to wood, brush, logs, leaves, grass, debris, paper, trash, and other flammable materials.

It will remain in place until conditions improve, and local authorities lift the ban.

Howell emphasized that the ban has been put in place for the safety of all citizens and greatly appreciates everyone's cooperation.
