Case count of COVID-19 in Henry County rises to ten



HENRY COUNTY, VA – The number of COVID-19 cases in Henry County rose to ten, as a man and a woman were logged for testing positive.


The man had known exposure to the virus and the woman had no known exposure, said Nancy Bell, Population Health Manager of the Virginia Department of Health West Piedmont District.


Both are in their 50s and are isolated at home.


Their close contacts have been notified and quarantined, according to Bell.


On Thursday morning, heath officials announced the first virus-related death in the West Piedmont Health District.


They did not released details about the person’s age or any related health factors citing state code.


The man was hospitalized at Sovah Health in Martinsville and died after contracting the coronavirus, the hospital's marketing director, Kelly Fitzgerald, confirmed.
