A suspect has been taken into custody by the Bedford Police Department in connection with several child sex crimes.
Derek David Browning was arrested on Wednesday following a joint investigation with the Bedford County Sheriff's Office and consultation with the Bedford County Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
Browning has been charged with a total of six offenses, including forcible sodomy, indecent liberties with a minor, penetration of a minor, and aggravated sexual battery. The specific charges against him include:
Two counts of forcible sodomy

One count of penetration of the mouth of a minor

After his arrest, Browning was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.
