COLLINSVILLE, VA – A Collinsville restaurant is giving back to certified nursing assistants who are working tirelessly during the COVID-19 outbreak.
On Wednesday, Ashley's Taste of Home treated them to a free homemade style meal.
“We have offered them our lunch special, which includes a meat and two sides and they've been able to enjoy some home cooked vegetables,” owner Wanda Ashley said.
Ashley intends to lift the morale of the people who have given their best while serving others.
“Sometimes they get the least appreciation, so I wanted to really say thanks to them by starting this off today,” she stated.
While the focus was on CNAs, Ashley's hopes to do the same for all those flighting on the front lines and in the community.
“When it's all said and done, I'm going to recognize our nurses, physical therapists, fire and rescue and our police force. I want to reach out to the people who are really serving our community at this time in some difficult situations,” Ashley explained.
The restaurant served nearly 80 free meals.
