FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – A Friday morning single-vehicle crash in Franklin County resulted in a fatality.
The crash occurred at 7:22 a.m. on Morewood Road near Chestnut Creek Drive.
Virginia State Police said a Toyota Camry was speeding on Morewood Road when the driver lost control, ran off the right side of the road and hit a fence.
The driver, Melissa Faye Leonard, 25, of Moneta, was wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene, according to state police.
The male passenger was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured, police said.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
