MARTINSVILLE, VA
Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) in Martinsville, VA, has appointed Dan Milloy as the new head coach for the Men’s Basketball program.
Before joining P&HCC, Milloy served as an assistant coach for NCAA Division III Ferrum College.
During his time with the Panthers, Milloy played a key role in the team's transformation, elevating their record from 6-19 to 10-17 in his first season, including a playoff win in the ODAC Tournament.
In his second year, Ferrum achieved a 16-11 overall record, securing wins against top 25 opponents, playoff victories, and receiving recognition in the DIII National poll.
Milloy also contributed significantly to the development of three second-team All-ODAC players at Ferrum, notably Shone Hicks, who later signed a professional contract with Raiders Basket in Finland and earned the Offensive Player of the Year award in his league.
Brian Henderson, Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement and Athletic Director, expressed enthusiasm for Milloy's appointment, emphasizing his suitability to lead the Men’s Basketball program both on and off the court.
Prior to his tenure at Ferrum, Milloy served as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Bethel High School in Hampton, VA, under Head Coach Craig Brehon.
Noteworthy achievements at Bethel include a 24-6 record and a Division 5 state runner-up finish in 2017.
Milloy's responsibilities encompassed various facets of the program, including film analysis, scouting, team workouts, practice planning, and strength and conditioning.
During his time at Bethel, Milloy coached multiple players who went on to compete in NCAA Division I basketball, including Dajour Dickens, Cam Bacote, Aaron Bacote, Marcus Banks Jr., and Obinnaya Okafor.
He also mentored Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, currently a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns in the NFL.
Milloy expressed gratitude and eagerness to join the P&H family, emphasizing his commitment to continue the Patriot Way and his readiness to commence work.
In addition to his coaching roles, Milloy has served as a camp leader and skill development coach at various university basketball camps, including the University of Dayton, the University of Richmond, and Christopher Newport University.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Tourism Management from Concord University (2011) and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Radford University (2019).
