The Danville Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Wednesday morning, January 1, in the area of Riverside Drive and Old Riverside Drive.
The department received a call at approximately 4:40 a.m. from SOVAH Health, reporting that a 21-year-old male had arrived at the hospital's Emergency Department with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand.
According to authorities, the victim drove himself to the hospital after the shooting, which is believed to have occurred in the Riverside Drive area.
While the injury is not life-threatening, police have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of the incident or the identity of the individual involved.
The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to determine the details surrounding the shooting and identify any potential suspects.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and the Danville Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
