The Danville Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place in the 100 block of Pineview Drive after officers discovered the body of a 78-year-old male inside a residence on Friday afternoon, March 7.
The victim has been identified as Arvel Shrewsbury.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., officers were called to the scene after receiving information that led them to execute a search warrant for the residence on Pineview Drive.
Upon entering the home, investigators found Shrewsbury deceased.
Through their investigation, officers were able to locate a suspect, Jeanette Perez Staton, 58, at another location within the city.
Staton, who was known to Shrewsbury, was taken into custody without incident.
Staton has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Shrewsbury.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and no further details regarding the cause of death have been released at this time.
