A Franklin County Sheriff’s Office administrator was arrested in Florida for child sexual abuse.

47-year-old Justin Dale Sigmon was charged on Monday, May 29 with making abusive sexual contact with a minor under the age of 12, according to federal court documents.

The Franklin County government website lists him as being a captain with the sheriff’s department.

The court documents say that on Thursday, May 25, Sigmon got on a cruise ship in Miami-Dade County and the next day, Sigmon was seen sitting down with a little girl on his lap and touching her thighs inappropriately.

A witness and the ship’s surveillance cameras recorded the incident.

While being interviewed, Sigmon told law enforcement that “he understood that the touching could be perceived as ‘inappropriate,’ but claimed that it was not intended to be ‘sexual,’” the affidavit stated.

The FBI special agent found that there was probable cause to charge Sigmon.

BTW21 News has reached out to the sheriff’s office for comment about his employment status, but has not received a response.
