COLLINSVILLE – Martinsville Deputy Fire Marshal Andy Powers saved a person from a house fire in Collinsville on Saturday morning.
At around 11 AM, Powers, who was off duty, notified smoke coming from the residence and rushed to see how he could help.
The deputy fire marshal knocked the front door open and pulled the victim out.
The extent of the burn injuries of the victim is unknown.
Firefighters responded to the home located at the intersection of North Daniels Creek Road and John Redd Boulevard shorty after.
They found the residence with heavy smoke showing and removed damaged items from the living room.
Volunteer fire departments from Collinsville and Fieldale worked the structure fire.
The Henry County Department of Public Safety transported the victim to Sovah Health in Martinsville.
VDOT and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office closed the roadway.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
