The Danville Police Department has arrested 30-year-old Luevano Ranferi Campos following an incident on Sunday, January 12, involving a train and his vehicle.
Campos was charged with driving under the influence after officers responded to a railroad crossing at Edgewood Drive.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to the scene where a train had reportedly struck a 2015 Ford Focus. Fortunately, the vehicle was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities later located Campos at his nearby residence. It was determined that he had walked home after calling 911 to report that his car had become stuck on the tracks.
Campos was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later released on a $1,500 bond.
The Danville Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
In light of the arrest, officials are reminding the public of the importance of designating a driver before engaging in any activities involving alcohol to prevent similar situations from occurring.
