Driver charged after rear-ending tractor trailer in Henry County



HENRY COUNTY, VA – A man is facing charges after he rear-ended a tractor trailer in the Oak Level community of Henry County.


Emergency workers responded to the two-vehicle crash at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the 8600 block of Virginia Avenue.

According to Virginia State Police, the 18-wheeler was on the shoulder of the highway, broke down with his markers on, when it was struck by a gray Toyota Tundra.


The Toyota then caught fire and was put out by the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department.


The Toyota driver took his eyes off the road and was charged with reckless driving, state police said.


Bassett Rescue Squad treated the man for a cut on his right arm.


The tractor trailer driver was unjuried.


The crash remains under investigation.
