
HENRY COUNTY, VA – A Martinsville man has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run involving a Henry County student on Thursday on Route 57.
Virginia State Police have identified 57-year-old David Paul Walker as the driver of the white Toyota pickup truck that hit the 8-year-old boy and then fled the scene.
Walker has been charged with one felony count of hit-and-run.
He is being held without bond at the Henry County Jail.
The Toyota has also been located and recovered as evidence.
The 8-year-old victim was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
State police said he is still being treated for life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash.

HENRY COUNTY, VA – The Virginia State Police is looking for the driver of a pickup truck after a hit-and-run involving a Henry County student.
A 8-year-old boy was getting off a Henry County Public Schools bus when he was struck by a white Toyota pickup truck in the 8000 block of Route 57 at 3:23 p.m. Thursday, according to state police.
The victim was flown to a hospital in North Carolina with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the white Toyota pick-up fled the scene and has damage to the headlights.
Investigators are downloading video from the bus to help identify the Toyota.
The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Crash Reconstruction Team are assisting with the crash.
