
The Danville Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed that an electrical issue was the cause of a tragic fire that claimed the life of 35-year-old Kasey Webb on December 26, 2024.
Danville firefighters responded swiftly to the structure fire in the 3500 block of Westover Drive, where heavy flames were seen coming from the home.
Crews immediately launched an attack on the fire while conducting a search of the property.
During the search, Webb was located inside the home and quickly removed. Firefighters and EMS personnel began resuscitation efforts and transported Webb to SOVAH Health in Danville. Despite their best efforts, Webb succumbed to her injuries.
The fire continued to burn as firefighters worked tirelessly to control the blaze.
A total of 15 firefighters remained on the scene for more than two hours to fully extinguish the fire.
The Danville Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that the fire was caused by an electrical issue, though the specifics of the malfunction are still under investigation.
Authorities from the Danville Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.
"Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Kasey Webb during this difficult time," said a spokesperson from the Danville Fire Department.
"This is a tragic event, and our team did everything possible to save her. We encourage all residents to ensure that their electrical systems are regularly inspected to avoid such devastating situations."
The Danville Fire Department and the Danville Police Department are continuing their investigation into the incident, working to determine any additional details surrounding the fire.
