
Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday night, December 19, on Route 460, approximately one-quarter mile west of Camp Jaycee Road in Bedford County.
According to officials, the crash took place at 10:53 p.m. when a 2018 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Route 460.
For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment, and subsequently overturned.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 46-year-old Lloyd Nelson Furrow of Montvale, Virginia, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Mr. Furrow was pronounced dead at the scene.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the incident. As of now, authorities have not disclosed any additional details, including whether weather or road conditions played a role in the crash.
This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of seatbelt use, as well as safe driving practices.
