Fatal Crash in Henry County Under Investigation by Virginia State Police


 


Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Friday night in Henry County, Virginia.


The incident took place at approximately 9:10 p.m. on December 13, at the intersection of Greensboro Road and Lee Ford Camp Road.



According to officials, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado failed to yield the right-of-way while entering Greensboro Road and was struck by a 2015 Audi. The force of the collision resulted in serious injuries to the driver of the Chevrolet, later identified as Marvin Lee Jenkins, 84, of Ridgeway, Virginia.



Jenkins was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was quickly transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Jenkins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.



The driver of the Audi, whose identity has not been released, did not sustain any serious injuries in the crash. Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including any potential contributing factors.



Troopers are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Virginia State Police. Further updates on the investigation are expected as authorities work to piece together the details of the tragic incident.



State Police remind all drivers to always exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws, especially at intersections, to prevent accidents and protect public safety.


The crash remains under investigation.
