
Virginia State Police are investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality in Rockbridge County. The crash occurred on Saturday, March 1, at 11:20 a.m., at the intersection of Route 11 and Pine Forest Road.
According to authorities, a 2005 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by 79-year-old Patricia Ann Bane of Lexington, Va., failed to yield the right-of-way while attempting to turn onto Route 11 from a stop sign on Pine Forest Road.
The Toyota was struck by a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, traveling southbound on Route 11 at the time of the collision.
Ms. Bane was wearing her seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 40-year-old man, was not wearing his seatbelt and sustained injuries in the crash.
He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Virginia State Police have stated that no charges are currently pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
