The Fieldale Pool's swimming season kicked off with significantly higher-than-expected attendance, calling for an unscheduled meeting of the all-volunteer Fieldale Recreation Center Board.
"Safety is always our number one concern when it comes to managing all of our facilities", explained Andrew Kahle, President of Fieldale Recreation Center & Pools. "Over the Memorial Day weekend, our pool facility broke all attendance records for an opening weekend," he explained.
While the popularity of the pool is exciting, the sheer volume of swimmers and guests made the pools overly crowded, potentially putting both swimmers and lifeguards at risk.
The Board concluded it will return to the pool's previous policy of Passholder access only, eliminating day passes, other than for the guests of the Season Passholders.
(Guests of Passholders may purchase a day pass on the same day they attend with the Passholder).
The previous open policy of day passes made it nearly impossible to regulate overcrowding, which was unfair to both Passholders and staff.
Season pass prices will remain the same.
$200 - Single Person
$250- Two People
$300 - Three People
$350- Four People
$400 - Five People
The Season passholder may sign in two guests a day.
The guest will pay $8 and must be accompanied by a season passholder.
Season Passes may be purchased at the gate, while supplies last.
By managing the number of season passes available, the Board concluded it will:
Help ensure the safety of both swimmers and lifeguards.
Relieve some of the pressures on the onsite staff members tasked with managing pool traffic, day-to-day.
Ensure the filtering system can keep up with demand. (The Memorial Day weekend overcrowding required closing the pool on the 29th to allow the pool filtering system to recalibrate for an entire day, which is not fair to Season Passholders).
Provide a nicer and safer Passholder experience.

Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat 10-5
Tue, Thu 10-8
Sun 1 - 5
The Fieldale Pools will be closed Saturday 6/1 and Sunday 6/2 for this transition and maintenance.
