AXTON, VA – Four people have been displaced after their home caught fire on Tuesday evening.
The Axton Volunteer Fire Department was called to the house fire in the 300 block of Martin Lane at 6:42 p.m.
“The fire started in the living room of the home in the area of an electric heater, but the exact cause is still under investigation,” Henry County Assistant Fire Marshal Kiah Cooper told BTW21 News.
The American Red Cross is assisting the two adults and two children who were displaced from the home.
The Assistant Fire Marshal said a couple of cats were killed in the blaze.
“The owner had insurance on the structure and we will be working with them during the investigation,” Cooper said.
There were no injuries to firefighters or residents.
The Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department and the Henry County Department of Public Safety also responded.
