FRANKLIN COUNTY – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will host the Sheriff's Citizen's Academy starting Tuesday, August 12 and will run for 12 weeks. The Citizens Academy is a partnership between the sheriff's office and county citizens. The program gives county citizens an in-depth look inside their sheriff's office. This cooperation allows for more transparency of day to day operations and grants candidates an opportunity to get more involved in their community. The Citizens Academy meets on consecutive Tuesday nights, starting after day time work hours and consists of classroom and hands-on instruction. Attendees are taught various law enforcement subjects including: patrol operations, criminal investigations, tactical operations, crime scene management, internal affairs, and special operations. In addition to classroom lecture, attendees are partnered with a road certified patrol deputy to have a "hands on" experience to various elements of the job of a deputy sheriff.
