A grand jury has returned indictments against 43-year-old Daniel Elwood Duncan in connection to the 2013 double homicide of Vicky Purdy and Ricky Dodson, according to officials.
Duncan, who was arrested on October 4, 2024, faces charges more than a decade after the tragic murders took place.
The Franklin County Circuit Court Grand Jury handed down four indictments against Duncan, including:
Two counts of felony first-degree murder
One count of willfully defiling a dead body
One felony count of processing or transporting a firearm by a convicted felon
Authorities confirmed that Duncan remains in custody without bond as he awaits further court proceedings.
The case, which remained unsolved for over 10 years, has shocked the Franklin County community.
Vicky Purdy and Ricky Dodson were found dead under suspicious circumstances in 2013, and it wasn’t until recently that new developments in the investigation led to Duncan's arrest.
Law enforcement officials expressed relief at the breakthrough, acknowledging the emotional toll the case had taken on the victims' families and the community.
The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected as the case moves forward in the judicial system.
Duncan’s trial is set to proceed as authorities prepare for the next phase of legal proceedings in what has been a long-awaited pursuit of justice for the victims.
