HENRY COUNTY, VA – The Henry County School Board approved three administrative positions at their Thursday meeting.

Candace Boyd will serve as a secondary assistant principal at Bassett High School next school year.

Boyd has served Henry County Public Schools students as a middle and high school teacher since 2014.

“I am more than excited to be pursuing a role as an assistant principal for Henry County Public Schools! I am looking forward to continuing to support our students’ learning experiences, collaborating with faculty and staff, and building relationships in order to provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment,” she said.

Melissa Broadstreet will be principal at Drewry Mason Elementary School.

Broadstreet is currently an assistant principal at Magna Vista High School.

“I feel so honored to be appointed principal of Drewry Mason Elementary and I am looking forward to working with the entire school community to build on the school’s history of success,” she stated. “Nothing is more important than the educational foundation built during the elementary years. I will support students, staff, and families through my actions, as I believe in the potential of every student and the impact of teachers and families on their success. Together, we will learn, grow, and pursue excellence each day.”

Katrina Perry will return to Magna Vista to be a secondary assistant principal after serving as principal at Laurel Park Middle School.

“I have enjoyed my time at Laurel Park and cherish the relationships I’ve developed with the Lancer school community. After so many years as a high school teacher and assistant principal, my heart is there, and I look forward to returning to the high school,” she said.
