High Winds Saturday Has Caused Area wide Power Outages

With the start off of a new month, Mother Nature is blowing into town with a noticeable entrance, as nearly 4,000 customers are in the dark.

This storm system that is moving in our area has caused extensive tornado and wind damage in parts of the Midwest and Deep South Friday and will continue to pass by late tonight in our region.


Appalachian Power is reporting the following number of outages as of 9:00 pm Saturday:

  • Henry County: 2,920

  • Franklin County: 857

  • Patrick County: 322

According to Appalachian Power’s website, there is not an estimated time of when electricity will be restored.
