Homecoming at Martinsville High School proves to be an inspiration

MARTINSVILLE – ­Over the past few weeks, we've had aspects of sports that go deeper than what's played on the field.

First, it was Lacey Flanagan making history at Bassett.

Now at the cross town rival Martinsville hosted homecoming.

A night that is usually headlined by the football team was taken over by the overwhelmed support that one individual received.

Stella Pickett was unanimously named queen and shared a smile with king Jeremiah Law.

What's so special about this?

Pickett is a senior with special needs and although this would be a big moment for any student, for her it's an inspiration to the entire student body.
