
A disturbing incident occurred at the Danville City Jail on Wednesday, resulting in the death of an inmate.
Deputies reported that during breakfast service at approximately 6:40 a.m., one inmate failed to emerge from his cell.
Upon investigating, deputies found Christopher McLaughlin alone and unresponsive in his secure cell.
They immediately initiated CPR, which was continued until the arrival of the Danville Life Saving Crew and Danville Fire Department.
McLaughlin was subsequently transported to SOVAH Danville, where he was pronounced dead at 7:31 a.m.
According to authorities, McLaughlin had pre-existing health conditions. His next of kin have been notified of his passing.
