Chestnut Knob Road gunshot wound was self-inflicted, Sheriff says

HENRY COUNTY, VA – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into what lead to a woman being shot on Monday morning.


Deputies were called to 2012 Chestnut Knob Road in Henry County for the shooting at around 11:39 a.m.


Sheriff Lane Perry said the caller stated the female victim had a self-inflicted gunshot wound

Arriving deputies found a woman who was able to communicate some information to them outside the mobile home with a gunshot wound.


She did say that the wound was self-inflicted and soon became unable to speak further, according to Sheriff Perry.


The Henry County Department of Public Safety responded thereafter and transported the victim to a landing zone set up by the Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department.

She is listed as currently being in critical condition.


The Sheriff said his deputies and investigators have continued working the scene to determine what has happened.


A search warrant has been executed and substantial amounts of drugs and money have been recovered, according to authorities.
