Local dairy farmer wins $2 million in Virginia Lottery

FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – Kenneth Trusty, a Franklin County dairy farmer, won the $2 million top prize in the Virginia Lottery scratcher game Money.

“I feel awesome!” he told Virginia Lottery officials when he redeemed his winning ticket. “It’s going to feel even better when I’m spending it!”

Trusty chose to receive his winnings in a one-time cash option of $1.2 million before taxes.

The store, Forty West Food Fare in Rocky Mount, receives a $10,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Trusty hopes to buy a new truck and has this to say to other lottery players, “It can happen! I’m living proof!”

There is still one unclaimed top prize ticket in this game.
