HENRY COUNTY, VA – Jessica Luther has been named the Director of Finance for Henry County Public Schools.
The Henry County native and Bassett High School graduate has nearly two decades of progressive accounting experience.
Luther began her career as an accounting associate at Goodman and Company in Roanoke, followed by a position as accounting associate at Commonwealth Laminating & Coating, Inc., in Martinsville.
She has worked in accounting at Ferrum College for the past fourteen years, where she’s served as Director of Budgets since February of 2017.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next Director of Finance for Henry County Public Schools,” Luther said. “Coming from a background in higher education, I understand the importance of a quality education for our students. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with the individuals in the finance department, as well as all other stakeholders, to support the goals and objectives of Henry County Public Schools.”
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Ferrum College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University Commerce.
Luther succeeds Dr. Benjamin Boone, who has been promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Operations and Administrative Services.
“Our director of finance plays a critical role in ensuring we’re able to fund the programs and staffing required for students to achieve at the highest levels,” stated HCPS Superintendent Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis. “Mrs. Luther brings the experience and expertise we were seeking, and she’s a valuable addition to our leadership team.”
