Radford, VA – A man was taken into custody Monday following a high-speed chase through Radford, according to local police.
Joey Lyn Phipps, 43, of Bluefield, was arrested for felony eluding and possession of stolen goods.
Additionally, he was served outstanding warrants for probation violations related to possession of Schedule II drugs, burglary, and possession of a weapon after being declared a felon.
The incident began at 9:19 a.m. when Radford City Police officers identified a stolen vehicle in the 1200 block of Rock Road East.
When officers attempted to approach the driver, Phipps sped away, initiating a pursuit that stretched approximately six miles.
Law enforcement deployed two tire deflation devices before successfully stopping the vehicle and apprehending the suspect.
Phipps is currently being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. No injuries were reported in the chase.
