The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) has arrested a man in connection to two recent shootings in the city, linking him to incidents that occurred in October and November.
LPD reports that the first shooting took place on October 8 on Hilltop Drive, while the second occurred on November 5 on Chowan Avenue.
Following weeks of investigation, authorities identified 36-year-old Lorenzo Callands of Lynchburg as the suspect in both shootings.
"Through diligent investigative work, LPD identified Lorenzo Callands as the suspect involved in both incidents," the department said in a statement.
Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, a search warrant was executed at Callands' residence. During the search, officers discovered three firearms, one of which had been reported stolen.
Callands was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
He is currently being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
LPD indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation into the shootings continues.
Authorities have not yet released details about a potential motive or the identities of those involved in the shootings.
