FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources has identified the 44-year-old man killed in a Franklin County boat crash.
The incident happened Saturday night in the Compass Cove area of the county at Smith Mountain Lake closest to channel marker R11.
According to DWR, a Yamaha ski boat went on the wrong side of the channel marker and hit fallen trees along the shore.
Officials said the driver, Michael Barber, sustained head injuries in the crash and died.
A passenger is recovering after receiving minor injuries.
