HENRY COUNTY, VA – A man faces a handful of charges after fleeing deputies in Henry County Sunday evening.
Around 5:44 p.m., a deputy on patrol on Fairystone Park Highway in Stanleytown saw a gray Nissan Sentra driven by a man who had outstanding warrants from Henry County.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop at the Getty Mart store, but the Nissan circled through the parking lot and fled towards Bassett, according to Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis.
The Nissan then led deputies on a 10-mile-long chase before deputies and the Martinsville Police Department used spike strips to deflate the tires.
Sheriff Davis said the pursuit ended at the intersection of Appalachian Drive and Koehler Road following a P.I.T. maneuver executed by a deputy.
Brian Patrick O’Leary, 27, of Bassett, was arrested and charged with felony elude and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon for the pursuit.
Additionally, he was arrested for the following outstanding warrants:
6 counts of felony probation violation (Henry County Circuit Court)
2 counts of felony probation violation (Carroll County Circuit Court)
5 counts of felony capias (Henry County General District Court)
1 count of contempt of court (Capias, Henry County General District Court)
O’Leary is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
