Martinsville man arrested after he led authorities on pursuit




MARTINSVILLE, VA – A Martinsville man has been arrested by the Henry County Sheriff's Office following a pursuit on Tuesday night.


The Sheriff’s Office says one of their deputies saw two vehicles going south on Virginia Avenue at a high rate of speed at around 7:30 p.m.


The deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on one of the vehicles and the Honda Civic fled.


The Honda continued south onto Memorial Boulevard in Martinsville and eventually hit a median disabling it.


The vehicle stopped on Barton Street and the driver, 34-year-old Joshua Gray Martin Sr., of Barrows Mill Road, was taken into custody without incident.

The pursuit reached speeds of approximately 75 miles per hour, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Martin was charged with felony elude and expired state registration.


The Martinsville Police Department assisted with the pursuit.
