MARTINSVILLE, VA – The Martinsville Police Department will be hosting neighborhood walks in the coming weeks.
“Social distancing does not mean we can’t be social. Although, we had to suspend some of our other community activities, we are concerned about how you are doing. So, we will be coming to your neighborhood to check on you,” the police department said on a Facebook post.
Martinsville Police said will be practicing social distancing and will not be knocking on doors.
They encourage residents to come out to their front porch and wave to them.
Police officers will be walking and riding bicycles through the neighborhoods.
The first COVID-19 neighborhood walk will be this Thursday, April 2nd from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Academy Place neighborhood.
The Academy Place neighborhood includes 1st to 5th streets.
The police department said they will be announcing the dates and neighborhoods they will be visiting in the coming weeks.
