MARTINSVILLE – A Martinsville resident was woken Friday morning around 4:00AM by an intruder who made access through the garage. The resident confronted the burglar who was attempting to steal lawn equipment. While the resident held the man at gunpoint the intruder begged him not to call the Police. The man then threw down a hedge trimmer and ran out of the garage but not before the home owner fired his gun. Martinsville City Police arrived along side a Henry County K-9 unit and was unable to secure a track on the individual. The intruder was described as a young white male wearing a backpack running toward Mulberry Rd. It’s unclear if the man was wonded by the shots fired in the burglary attempt. If you have any information you’re encouraged to call Martinsville City Police.
