In a significant drug bust, law enforcement agencies in North Carolina have successfully seized 161 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $16.1 million.
The operation was the result of an extensive multi-agency investigation that began in January 2025.
Sheriff Danny H. Rogers of the Guilford County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) reported that deputies from the GCSO VICE/Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the Greensboro Police Department (GPD), Eden Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), executed a joint narcotics investigation that led to the large-scale drug seizure.
The cocaine was recovered after a coordinated effort by these agencies, who worked together to target and dismantle a trafficking operation.
The investigation, which has been ongoing for several months, culminated in the successful seizure, preventing what authorities say would have been a massive influx of illegal drugs into the community.
Fabian Nicolas Camarena-Alvarado, 25, has been arrested and is currently being held without bond under a federal indictment for drug-related charges.
Camarena-Alvarado is accused of being involved in the distribution and trafficking of the drugs. He is expected to face federal charges as part of the ongoing investigation.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released further details at this time.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the broader network of individuals involved in the trafficking operation.
The Guilford County Sheriff's Office and its partners are urging anyone with information regarding drug trafficking or related criminal activity to come forward.
