Massive Drug Bust in Roanoke Yields Cocaine, Guns, and Cash; Investigation Ongoing

ROANOKE, Va. — April 11, 2025 (BTW21) A large-scale narcotics operation led by the Virginia State Police Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force has resulted in a major drug seizure in Roanoke, authorities announced.
On April 5, 2025, members of the Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force—working alongside the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Virginia State Police Special Operations Division—executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Campbell Avenue SW.
The operation was part of an ongoing high-level investigation into a suspected drug trafficking network operating in the city.
During the raid, law enforcement officials seized approximately:
6.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine
54 grams of crack cocaine
1,500 grams of marijuana
Three firearms
$75,020 in U.S. currency
The primary suspect, a 41-year-old male, has not yet been formally charged.
Authorities say charges are pending consultation with both the Roanoke City Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Officials say the investigation remains active and more developments may be forthcoming.
The Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is a collaborative effort comprised of investigators from the Virginia State Police, Roanoke City Police Department, Salem Police Department, Roanoke County Police Department, and Vinton Police Department. The operation is part of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA)Â program, which focuses on dismantling major drug operations across the region.
Authorities emphasized their continued commitment to fighting drug-related violence and trafficking in the Roanoke Valley.
