HENRY COUNTY, VA – A 20-year-old man is behind bars for leading law enforcement on a high speed chase on Thursday morning.
A Henry County Sheriff’s deputy noticed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Greensboro Road shortly before 10 a.m.
The motorcycle was speeding recklessly; going 98 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone, according to authorities.
The deputy tried to get the motorcycle to stop, but the driver refused and continued north on Greensboro Road.
The pursuit entered Martinsville and the city police department join and assisted in the incident.
The driver attempted to turn left onto Kohler Road from Virginia Avenue, lost control and crashed.
The driver was identified as Adon Carothers, of Pottsville, Arkansas, who was arrested and charged with the following:
Eluding law enforcement
Reckless driving
Driving on a suspended license
Drive with no motorcycle endorsement
No vehicle registration
No insurance
The Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad evaluated Carothers for possible injuries from the crash.
The Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.
