September 2, 2024 – New College Institute (NCI) is excited to announce an expanded partnership with the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy (PRCJTA) to offer enhanced Immersive De-Escalation Training.
NCI’s Baldwin Building now houses PRCJTA’s MILO Range Theater simulator, which provides recruits with a fully immersive and realistic training experience through its 180° field of view.
This advanced simulator allows recruits to interact from all directions, respond to multiple threats, and apply effective tactics simultaneously.
Scenarios can be adjusted in real-time by instructors to reflect different outcomes based on recruit responses.
NCI Executive Director Joe Sumner expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, saying, “We are proud to support PRCJTA recruits as they complete their training, graduate in our lecture hall, and begin their careers. We’re thrilled to extend this opportunity to more organizations, including those currently serving in law enforcement.”
The expanded training is now available to all law enforcement agencies as well as external organizations, such as school systems, interested in de-escalation training.
For just $100 per trainee, groups of 4-10 participants can engage in a four-hour course that includes an overview, hands-on training, simulation exercises, and a debriefing session.
The simulator offers real-life scenarios and the option to create custom scenarios tailored to specific needs.
PRCJTA Executive Director Ben Rea added, “This training benefits a wide range of organizations.
With numerous pre-existing scenarios and the ability to develop customized ones, we can address specific training needs for various facilities.”
