
HENRY COUNTY, VA – A fight in Henry County ended with two men being hospitalized on Monday night.
At 10:16 p.m., officers with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Martinsville Police Department responded to Northview Gardens Apartments on Stultz Road for a report of a fight.
When they arrived, they made contact with 39-year-old Marvin Antonio Pritchett of Katherine Street in Martinsville and 46-year-old Bernard Boswell of the apartment complex.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that there had been ongoing arguments between Pritchett and Boswell and that Pritchett drove to Boswell’s home and assaulted him in the parking lot.
During the fight, Boswell cut Pritchett on the neck and Pritchett assaulted the mother of his child, according to the sheriff's office.
Pritchett was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery for non-life-threating injuries.
Boswell was transported to Sovah Health in Martinsville, where he was treated and released.
After consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney, it was determined that Bernard Boswell acted in self-defense when he injured Pritchett; therefore, charges will not be issued against Boswell.
Pritchett was arrested and charged with one count of assault and battery and one count of domestic assault and battery, both charges are misdemeanors.
He was released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A man was airlifted to the hospital following an incident in Henry County on Monday night.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office along with the Martinsville Police Department responded to Northview Gardens Apartments located on Stultz Road for an assault call at around 10:16 p.m.
According to the 911 communications center, multiple people were assaulted
at the apartment complex resulting in a 39-year-old man being stabbed in the neck.
The victim was escorted by law enforcement to Sovah Health in Martinsville to be flown by helicopter to another hospital.
No other information was made available.
