Over 100 grams of fentanyl seized in Fieldale drug bust

HENRY COUNTY, VA – On Tuesday morning, narcotic investigators seized more than 100 grams of fentanyl, that's enough to kill the entire population of Henry County.


Just two milligrams of fentanyl can be a lethal dose, according to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.


Over 40 grams of cocaine, a firearm, and cash were also taken in during the search of a home in the 2200 block of The Great Road in Fieldale.


Bobby Ronell Helms, 44, of the home was found inside and he was arrested without incident.


Sheriff Wayne Davis said there was another man inside, but he was not associated with the investigation and was released.


Helms was charged with the following:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl

  • Possession with the intent to distribute cocaine

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

  • Possession of a firearm while in possession of a scheduled I/II substance


He was taken to the Henry County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held with no bond.
