MARTINSVILLE, VA – With the recent growth of the coronavirus pandemic, Patrick Henry Community College is increasing its cleaning regimen and further decreasing foot traffic on campus.
The campus will now be completely closed on both Thursdays and Fridays to allow two days for deep cleaning.
All faculty and staff will be working remotely on these two days.
Many campus offices are holding remote office hours through Zoom.
Although the campus is currently closed to the public, minimal staff will be on campus Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students are required to have an appointment with a staff or faculty member before coming to campus on these days.
The college's parking lots remain open at all times so students can access the internet from their cars.
Wage employees will continue working their current schedules unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.
“In many ways, our doors are closed, but PHCC is still very much in full gear. Hundreds of students are learning remotely. Our extraordinary faculty and student support services are working very hard to ensure everyone has the support they need to finish this semester strong,” President Dr. Angeline Godwin said. “We are closing the campus completely every Thursday and Friday because we want to take every precaution to keep our ‘PH’-family safe so we all can continue working and learning together.”
To set up an appointment for on-campus business, students will need to call the associated office.
A list of contacts can be found at here.
To stay up-to-date on changes and to stay connected with course work, students need to check email and Canvas at least daily.
