HENRY COUNTY, VA – The opening of Patrick & Henry Community College’s new welding lab, which tripled the capacity of the previous facility, has already seen a 50% increase in enrollment.
The new state-of-the-art lab has 45 welding booths, welding simulators, a fabrication shop and robotic welding lab.
The welding program currently has 165 students enrolled and a wait list of over 70 students.
P&HCC Lead Welding Faculty Randy Smith says the demand is so high companies as far as Virginia Beach are asking P&HCC for welders.
With the new technology and by running a morning, mid day and late shift, the community college is sending out students out into the workforce in less than 2 years with as many as 9 certifications.
Thanks, Dwight Bower!!!
